Métabief Ski resort : Changing their development strategy because of Climate change.

The Mont d´Or Mixed Syndicate - Syndicat mixte du Mont d’Or (SMMO) - questioned in December 2020 the future of the Métabief resort.

As France is one of the main destinations for winter activities : placed in the top 3 in the world, every year, neck and neck with Austria and the United States.

Métabief was in fact the first French resort to commission a climatic study with Météo France's snow study center: “I would say to all the resorts that they have a responsibility to know their mountain, its environment, its issues related to water and its climatic outlook. It must be part of the fundamentals and no longer the options. Everyone now has the tools to access knowledge, there is no excuse. (…) This is why we are giving ourselves ten years (...) We will maintain the facilities in 2030 if we still have viability, but we must not be too delusional in 2035 ... ", specifies Olivier Erard the SMMO director.

The efforts of the Métabief station were particularly praised by President Marie-Guite Dufay: “At the start, there was a vision. Then, you needed daring and courage to move towards four-season tourism that is more in line with the realities to come and more environmentally friendly.
